Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Navy Reserve – Part-Time Officer Opportunity 

OVERVIEW 

A rewarding career in anesthesia doesn’t have to be limited to your civilian practice. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the Navy Reserve, you can continue your civilian career while serving part-time as a commissioned officer providing critical anesthesia care in support of Navy and Marine Corps missions worldwide.   • Prior-service Nurse Corps Officers seeking to return to service through Navy Reserve affiliation

SERVICE COMMITMENT 

Most Navy Reserve officers serve: 

One weekend per month (drill weekend) in non-clinical time 

Two weeks of Annual Training per year in clinical specialty 

This structure allows healthcare professionals to maintain their civilian practice while contributing to national service. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Applicants must generally meet the following requirements: 

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Graduate of an accredited CRNA program
  • Current CRNA certification and active RN license
  • Eligible for commissioning as a Navy Officer
  • Typically under age 42 at time of commissioning (waivers are considered up to age 57)
  • Able to meet Navy medical and physical standards 

Prior military service is not required.

Salary Range: $92.00 - $131.10 per hour (Hiring Range) 

Hours: We have positions available with 36 or 40 hours per week plus on-call. Minimal calls, nights, and weekends. 

Incentives: Position qualifies for a $100,000 commitment incentive, paid in four (4) installments over two (2) year work commitment, as well as our Tuition Loan Assistance Incentive: Up-to $40,000 in tuition loan assistance (amount based on loan amount). Up to $10,000 relocation assistance (based on distance). Student CRNAs accepting a position 12 months or more from their start date are eligible to receive up-to $12,000 in advance for a pre-hire commitment incentive bonus, paid in twelve (12) installments over 1 (one) year.

Summary: 

Anesthetizes patients undergoing surgical, medical, obstetrical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or resuscitative procedures either by general, regional, or monitored anesthesia. Functions under the administrative guidelines of the Department of Surgical Services, and under the medical direction of the attending anesthesiologists of the Department of Anesthesiology. 

Requirements: 

Education Requirements: Completion of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). 

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Certified or eligible for certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. 

Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.
